The Supreme Court heard argument on whether the reduced 2.5 billion dollar award of punitive damages against Exxon is an unconstitutional conflict with federal maritime law and the Clean Water Act. Justice Samuel Alito recused himself from the case because he owns Exxon stock.</description>

      <description>As part of a celebration of the one-year anniversary of the Mars Exploration Rover mission landing on Mars, the MER team presented "Mars Stories We've Never Told." Team members spoke to reporters and recounted personal experiences of the past year. Speakers included: Firouz Naderi; Rob Manning; Jennifer Harris Trosper; Polly Estabrook; Mark Adler; and Steve Collins. 
On Jan. 3, 2004 the first robotic rover successfully landed on Mars. Three weeks later, the second rover successfully landed on the opposite side of Mars. One year later rovers Spirit and Opportunity have exceeded all mission expectations and continue to make discoveries. The goal of NASA's Mars Exploration Rover mission was to explore for a minimum of 90 days to search for evidence of past water activity.</description>
